What Affects the Cost of Termite Treatment?

Every house is different, so every termite quote is too. Here's what changes the cost, and how to get a real quote after an inspection.

Key takeaways

  • Every home gets its own quote after we look at it.
  • Home size, foundation type, and how far termites have spread matter most.
  • A termite inspection is $150, waived if we do your treatment, and you get a quote before any work starts.
  • Waiting usually means more damage, and insurance usually won't cover it.

Why don't we list a set cost online?

Two houses on the same street can need very different work. One might have a little activity by the back steps. The other might have mud tubes along half the foundation.

We'd rather look at your house and give you a real number than guess. That's why the first step is a termite inspection.

What changes the cost of termite treatment?

We use a liquid soil treatment, so most of the cost comes down to how much soil and foundation we need to treat, and how hard it is to reach.

  • Size of your home. More foundation means more soil to treat.
  • Foundation type. A slab, a crawl space, and a basement are each treated a little differently, and some take more work.
  • How far the termites have spread. One spot by the porch is different from activity all around the house.
  • Access. Concrete that has to be drilled, tight crawl spaces, and finished basements can add time.
  • Add-ons to the house. Porches, garages, and additions all have their own foundations to treat.

How do we put your quote together?

First, we do an inspection ($150, waived if we do your treatment). We check the foundation, the basement or crawl space, the garage, and wood near the soil.

Next, we show you what we found and explain what we'd do and why. Then we give you a quote. Nothing gets done until you say yes.

What comes with a Wolfe termite treatment?

Our termite treatments come with a 1-year termite warranty. After the first year, you can keep it active with a yearly inspection and renewal fee. If you sell the house, the termite warranty transfers to the new owner.

The yearly inspection is how we catch new activity early. Ask about the renewal fee when we go over your quote.

Can waiting make it worse?

A large termite colony can eat dozens of pounds of wood a year. One University of Florida lab study works out to about 80 pounds a year for a colony of a million termites. That study used Formosan termites, a southern species. Delaware's eastern subterranean termites are similar but not identical.

Termite damage usually builds over years, out of sight. Problems often show up 10 or more years after a house is built. Homeowners insurance usually doesn't cover termite damage. Check your policy.

When should you call us?

Call us if you've seen swarmers, shed wings, mud tubes, or wood that sounds hollow. Call us too if you just want to know where you stand. A termite inspection is $150, and we waive it if we do your treatment. Call us at (302) 697-8969 to set one up.

Common questions

How much does termite treatment cost?

It depends on the property and the pest. Call us and we'll give you a quote.

Do I need an inspection before I get a quote?

Yes. That's how we know what your home needs. The inspection is $150, and we waive it if we do your treatment.

Is a termite letter the same as a termite inspection?

No. A termite letter is a written report for a home sale, and it's $175.

Is there a yearly cost after treatment?

Only if you want to keep the warranty going. After the first year, you can keep it active with a yearly inspection and renewal fee.
